Teach For America is the national corps comprised of outstanding recent college graduates and professionals who commit two years to teach in low-income public schools and become lifelong leaders in the effort to expand education opportunity for students in Louisiana.
In 2011-12, TFA will have nearly 312 corps members teaching in urban and rural high-poverty, low-performing schools across the southeast region of Louisiana. Corps members serve as full time teachers and promote academic growth for their students and engage parents and other community members as volunteers. They also participate in service activities within their communities and engage in continually developing students' leadership and citizenship skills.
