Volunteers needed for Fisheries Fun Run

Volunteers are needed to assist with the Fisheries Fun Run/Walk, hosted by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor in downtown Baton Rouge on Sunday, October 3, 2010. For the event, the office has partnered with the 7th largest international charity, Operation Blessing International, to raise money for Gulf Coast fishermen and their families. 100 percent of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the soft-shell crab shedding project established by Operation Blessing International in partnership…

Learn & Serve K-12 Mid-Year Application released

The Louisiana Serve Commission in the Office of Lieutenant Governor has released its 2010-11 Mid-Year Learn and Serve America grant application. This grant provides funding for service-learning programs to be implemented in K-12 public schools during the period January 10, 2011 - May 31, 2011. Airboat volunteers

The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana needs volunteers with airboats.   With the help of over 400 volunteers, CRCL will plant 70,000 marsh plants over 2 weeks.  We will plant over 5,000 plugs of smooth and marshhay cordgrass per day to help stabilize and vegetate the bare marsh platforms that were created by the CWPPRA Goose Point/Point Platte Marsh Creation Project.  This project dredged sediments from Lake Pontchartrain to create over 550 acres of marsh platform.…
