Louisiana Delta Service Corps is now recruiting qualified agencies to host AmeriCorps members. The agency has 45 members who will be placed in New Orleans and areas surrounding Baton Rouge.
Members serve full-time for 11 months starting September 1in nonprofits, faith-based agencies, community and grass roots organizations. They mentor and tutor children, repair and build houses for the elderly, teach financial literacy classes, grow community gardens, mobilize volunteers and complete other community service projects. I wish I had the time to dedicate to such a great cause. I will continue to monitor this blog so that I can see what I can do in the future, this sounds like a fantastic project serving much needed peoples in that area.
