Adoption Option
Parishes Served: AscensionPreteens and teens will learn about adoption through a curriculum of study called Adoption Option. The young people will then educate their peers by designing tools to educate and then setting up booths at school and community events. The youth voice will be heard in PSAs and TV appearances with production and air time donated by a local communications company. The youth will organize and operate a health fair as well as participate in St. Elizabeth Hospital's health fair. Professionals representing legal, medical and the judiciary will assist in the education of students on adoption as it relates to their specific field. The service projects of the pilot classes will impact the entire student population of two schools and the local community.
