In recognition of the impact that volunteers have had in our state's recovery from the hurricanes of 2005, Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu declared 2007 the Year of Service.  Since then, more than 698,000 Louisiana citizens have volunteered, serving 98.6 million volunteer hours and providing an economic impact to the state of $1.9 billion. Our citizens are giving their time and talents to make their communities better places to work, play and raise their families.  Our goal is for citizens of all abilities to find a place to engage in service in their communities.  We hope that you will find an opportunity for service that matches your interest and skills and to help you along.
