Volunteering

VolunTourism

Since 2005, voluntourists have flocked to Louisiana, particularly to the hurricane-affected areas of Southeast and Southwest Louisiana.  Congregations from all faiths, college students on Spring Break, employees attending corporate meetings and many other visitors continue to dedicate part of their vacation to volunteer service activities. Hundreds of corporations and organizations have developed meaningful ‘service projects’ as part of their meetings and events such as the NBA Cares All-Star Day of Service. More than 1 million volunteers have taken part in recovery efforts since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
